Using a whole school approach is an effective way to improve implementation of relationships, identity and sexuality education in schools. It involves the whole school staff, teachers, parents, church and community leaders. The three aspects of our whole school approach are culture, curriculum and community.
We provide support for schools to implement Relationships, Identity and Sexuality Education as a Whole School Approach using five action areas, across the three main aspects of the whole school.

Culture
- Management support
- Safe and healthy school environment
Community
- Parents and church involvement
- Access to health services and information
Curriculum
- Teaching capacity
Whole School Approach
- Initial signing – We help you clarify why a whole school approach is important for your school. This phase also includes goal setting and identifying any barriers or challenges to implementing Relationships, Identity and Sexuality Education (RISE) in the school.
- Appoint RISE committee – In this phase we support you to appoint a Relationships, Identity and Sexuality Education committee, conduct self-assessment review and provide you with a report. We also support you to select a training package.
- Curriculum planning – We guide you through the steps to write Relationships, Identity and Sexuality Education programs and lessons for Primary Health Education, Secondary Health Education and Christian Education (Pk-10). We provide a professional learning day for your staff, offer program writing support, and help teachers decide on resource acquisition needs.
- Implementation – Once you are ready to start teaching we provide parent presentations to engage your parent community, appoint coaching partnerships where key teaching staff will have a Virtue Community coach to guide them through the implementation, and provide a series review meetings.
